UW Law School Show

Hi Friends!

If you find yourself in Seattle's University District, please swing by UW's William H. Gates Law School Building, I have nine paintings up in the main hall area! They are mostly old ones from my thesis, but there are two new ones that I did on Plexi Glass instead of Mylar as an experiment to make the paintings more stable and sellable.

The show will be up through December.

Fictilis Gallery--Not For Sale

Hi Art Friends!

This summer I am interning at an Art Gallery/Alternative Art Space called Fictilis and we are having a show that I encourage all of you to submit stuff to.  The show is entitled "Not For Sale," meaning it will include works that are, for whatever reason, not for sale.  It is very open-ended and weird stuff is encouraged, and I know that a lot of you make weird stuff.  As the title states, the work will not be for sale, but it will still be good exposure for your art, especially works that wouldn't get shown otherwise or things you don't want to let go of.

Here is a more thorough description of the show.

Submit works to our online submission form or e-mail submissions@fictilis.com with photos and descriptions of work.  The deadline for entries is June 27.

Thank you!

Beach Cabin

Here's more Beach Cabin art.  This one is a wood block reduction print, meaning I used one plywood block for both colors by carving everything that is blank paper, printing all in pink, carving away everything left pink, printing the green.  The wood was way harder but way more fun to carve than linoleum and it was sadly fitting to chip away at wood to make a portrait of the cabin.

Spooky House take 2

Here's another print inspired by one my Grandfather did when he was in college.  This one is even further away from his than the first etching I did based-off of it.  Note the Whitman clock tower.

This is a stone lithography print, which is one of the most labor-intensive art processes I have ever done. It was my first one so I made a few mistakes which is why there are those light stripes across the top and bottom and why there is that freaky texture in the background that I ended up liking a lot.

Studio Wall

I have to say, the best art I made all year is definitely my studio wall, soon to be painted over.
